Top 5 Family Events This Weekend March 23rd-March 25th
If you're anything like me, you're ready for spring to get here already! I loved the snowfall we got yesterday, but I need some warmth! Nothing says "Get here soon, Spring!" like these five events happening this weekend.

This sounds like a great, scenic race! Lace up your tennis shoes and run through the University of Mary Washington. The race benefits the Fairy Godmother Project (for more information on this charity check out: https://www.facebook.com/VAFGP/.) All finishers get a medal and a t-shirt.
2. South Side Block Party - March 24th from 10am-6pm

Love a good scavenger hunt? Then come on out for the South Side Block Party. The 500 and 600 blocks of Caroline and Sophia Streets are hosting a block party. The party includes sidewalk sales, live music and art, as well as a fun Scavenger Hunt with amazing raffles prizes! 3. The National Cherry Blossom Festival - March 25th from 5-6:30pm
513 13th Street, NW
https://www.nationalcherryblossomfestival.org/opening-ceremony/
I know I mentioned the Cherry Blossom Festival last week, but we are quickly approaching the peak blossom period. On Sunday the Opening Ceremony will kick off the peak blossoming week. The opening ceremony will be at the Warner Theatre. There will be traditional and modern performances. The event is free, however, you need to reserve tickets ahead of time. While you are in DC head to the Tidal Basin to see the beautiful cherry blossoms near full bloom.
4. SAAM Cherry Blossom Celebration - March 24th from 11:30-3pm
8th & G St. NW,
Washington, DC 20004
The Smithsonian Museum of American Art is having their own Cherry Blossom Celebration and it's geared towards families. I am super excited about this event. If I didn't have to work I would be there in a heartbeat. The event will include a taiko drumming performance, followed by Japanese music, and the US premiere of Okinawa’s NS Ryukyu Ballet Company. I lived in Okinawa for three years and loved (and miss) the taiko drummer performances we saw over the years. The taiko drummers, musicians, and ballet company will capture the attention of your whole family! There will also be face painting, cherry blossom crafts, and a spring-themed scavenger hunt.
5. March for Our Lives - March 24th at 12pm
Pennsylvania Avenue NW, between 3rd and 12th Streets NW
Washington, DC
According to their website, "March For Our Lives will take to the streets of Washington DC to demand that their lives and safety become a priority and that we end gun violence and mass shootings in our schools today."
